Our university is located in Dalin Township, Chiayi County, and was founded in 1996 by Venerable Master Hsing Yun of Fo Guang Shan. With “life education, environmental sustainability, smart innovation, and Three Goods Campus” as its distinguishing features, the school pursues excellence and has received numerous awards:

Promote overseas learning and cultivate international mobility

The university has approximately 5,000 students, with approximately 10% of students participating in international activities. Our international students come from 17 countries.

Our university has established sister school relationships with 220 universities around the world, providing students with opportunities for international exchange learning. With the assistance of Fo Guang Shan’s 300 overseas locations, students are arranged to serve as international volunteers or overseas interns.

Our university, together with Fo Guang University, University of the West, Nan Tien Institute, and Guang Ming College, has jointly established the “Fo Guang Shan University Consortium”, providing students with diversified overseas learning resources.

Students’ overseas learning is very diverse. Students participate in overseas learning and international conferences, and can go abroad for various types of learning through exchange learning at overseas sister schools, the “2+2” program in the United States, the “3+1” program in the United Kingdom, the “1+1” dual degree program for master’s degrees in the United Kingdom or the United States, overseas study abroad, elite overseas study groups, overseas temple services, and international volunteer programs.

Overseas Chinese (Hong Kong and Macao) Student Welfare and Counseling Mechanisms

1. Priority arrangement for school dormitories. International students in Nanhua Hall dormitory enjoy preferential rates (double rooms with shared bathroom).

2. Provide scholarships for international students. Overseas Compatriot students are exempt from tuition and miscellaneous fees for the first semester. From the second semester onwards, students who rank in the top 30% of their class can enjoy exemption from tuition and miscellaneous fees. Those who do not reach the top 30% but pass the course can enjoy a reduction of NTD 20,000 in tuition and miscellaneous fees. Promoting Overseas Learning and Cultivating Global Mobility

The University actively promotes overseas learning to enhance students’ global mobility and international competitiveness. Together with Fo Guang University (Yilan, Taiwan), University of the West (USA), Nan Tien Institute (Australia), and Guang Ming College (Philippines) under the Fo Guang Shan education system, the University has established the Fo Guang Shan University Consortium. This pioneering cross-national university alliance, the first of its kind in Taiwan, integrates the strengths and resources of five institutions to provide diversified academic opportunities and broaden students’ global perspectives.

The 2+2 Dual Degree Program is a landmark initiative in Taiwan. Graduated from the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature at National Chung Cheng University in 2001. In 2002, joined NTV7, a private television station in Malaysia, responsible for the interview and tracking reports of the current affairs program 《Tracking Files》. In 2005, his work 《Secret Society》 was also shortlisted for the “Best TV Magazine Award” at the SERI ANGKASA Awards Ceremony of the National News Agency.

Formerly the head of Chinese news and current affairs at NTV7, currently the executive editor of the Chinese news and current affairs group of 《8TV》 and 《NTV7》, channels under the largest wireless television group in Malaysia.

Spacious and Beautiful Campus Environment

As a national green demonstration university, it was voted the most beautiful university in Taiwan by “Yahoo! Kimo”. The campus buildings were planned by architect C.Y. Lee, the architect of Taipei 101, and cover an area of 130 hectares. Flowers bloom all year round, and the lawns are lush. It was the filming location for the TV series 《Meteor Garden》 and the movie 《KANO》. The sports facilities are complete, with an Olympic-standard swimming pool, climbing wall, archery range, golf practice range, and various ball courts. It is a very suitable learning environment for physical and mental development.

Differences from Universities in Hong Kong and Macau

Respect for academic freedom and diverse values, providing a healthy academic environment for teachers and students to fully develop. After the Sunflower Movement in 2014, in order to promote the concept of upholding academic freedom, an “Academic Freedom Monument” was established on the lawn of the College of Social Sciences, hoping to remind intellectuals of their responsibility to social reform.

National Chung Cheng University Wai-San Memorial Scholarship for Hong Kong Students

Students who demonstrate improvement in their Chinese proficiency level by passing the Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) prior to the start of each semester are eligible for a full exemption of on-campus accommodation fees for that semester.
The TOCFL proficiency levels shall be based on certificates issued by the Steering Committee for the Test of Proficiency-Huayu (SC-TOP) and expressed according to the CEFR framework (A1, A2, B1, etc.).

2. Wu Feng Lequn Scholarship
Students who have completed at least one semester of study and meet the following requirements are eligible to apply:
(1) The number of credits taken in the previous semester complies with the University’s academic regulations;
(2) Conduct (behavior) grade of 80 or above;
(3) Semester grade point average of 70 or above.

In response to the current and future urgent needs of Taiwanese society for fire safety, the Department of Fire Safety at our university aims to cultivate professional fire safety talents. In addition to excellent teachers and advanced teaching equipment, the Department of Fire Safety also has a wide range of career prospects: civil servants, fire equipment engineers, and enterprise safety and health management personnel. The goal of the department is to cultivate all-round fire safety professionals for employment, certification, and further education.

Nationally Certified Chinese Language Training Class

The professional faculty team of the Chinese Language Center of our university is determined to assist foreign students in learning basic Chinese listening, speaking, reading, and writing in the shortest possible time, and plans and implements long- and short-term Chinese language training classes, from short-term intensive classes, regular classes, to customized classes, and even online courses, to meet the needs of different groups. In addition to language teaching, the Chinese Language Center hopes to promote the beauty of Taiwanese culture and promote international cooperation and cross-cultural exchanges.

Industry-Academia Cooperation System and Employment Integration System

Our university is committed to promoting international industry-academia cooperation programs for foreign students, so that students can combine the professional knowledge in the classroom with practical experience to complement each other.
