Introduction
Teaching Quality and Academic Reputation
Our university is a practice-oriented university, aiming to cultivate practical talents needed by the industry. We have set four major goals and concrete strategies: “Shaping holistic technology talents,” “Strengthening two-way school-enterprise exchanges,” “Improving the overall effectiveness of the school,” and “Embracing the community with international aspirations” to improve our teaching, student affairs, research, industry-academia connection, internationalization, and software and hardware environment standards. We provide teachers and students with a high-quality environment, cultivate elite talents needed by the industry, provide professional consulting and guidance cooperation to the industry, and create a JUST (Joyous, Unique, Sincere, Truthful, JUST) Jinwen University of Science and Technology brand image, moving towards sustainable development and pursuing excellence, to achieve the vision of “cultivating a first-class institution for the most beloved talents of enterprises.”
Jinwen University of Science and Technology(JUST) is a practice-oriented institution committed to cultivating skilled professionals required by various industries. The university has established four key goals: to shape holistic technological talents, to strengthen university–industry collaboration, to enhance institutional efficiency, and to embrace the community with a global vision.
Through these strategic objectives, the university continuously advances its teaching quality, student affairs, research capacity, industry-academia cooperation, internationalization, and overall learning environment. By providing faculty and students with a high-quality educational setting, JWUST aims to nurture elite talents who meet industry needs, offer professional consulting and cooperation to enterprises, and create the distinguished brand image of JUST — Joyous, Unique, Sincere, and Truthful.
With this vision, the university strives for sustainable development and excellence, aspiring to become a leading institution that cultivates the most sought-after professionals by enterprises.

International Exchange and Cooperation
The university places special emphasis on two-way exchange between schools and enterprises, pioneered customized courses, strengthened industry-academia cooperation teaching, matched students with industry, cultivated outstanding talents early, and actively promoted student off-campus internships and overseas internships. In order to cultivate students’ employment competitiveness, a student career development center was established to plan a series of counseling courses and activities from freshman to senior year to achieve the school’s purpose of employment upon graduation. The school comprehensively promotes students’ domestic and overseas internships, allowing students to come into contact with the workplace during their studies and be employed upon graduation.
The JUST places great emphasis on two-way collaboration between academia and industry. It has pioneered industry-aligned curricula to strengthen cooperative teaching and to connect students with enterprises, cultivating outstanding professionals in advance. The JUST also actively promotes both domestic and overseas internships.
To enhance students’ employability, the Career Development Center offers a series of counseling programs and activities from freshman to senior year, fulfilling the goal of “employment upon graduation.” Through comprehensive promotion of internships at home and abroad, students gain practical workplace experience and are well prepared to enter the job market immediately after graduation. The JUST encourages students to participate in both domestic and international internships, helping them gain real-world experience and secure employment right after graduation.

Our university adheres to the vision and core values of a “Great University,” and is committed to pursuing truth, creating new knowledge, and cultivating outstanding talents. To encourage students to engage in interdisciplinary learning, expand their second expertise, and deepen their diverse knowledge structure, we have referenced the BxA cross-college degree structure promoted by Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in the United States, as well as the innovative models of modularized curriculum and online/hybrid learning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), as benchmarks to promote the development of “Cross-Domain Programs.”
The “Cross-Domain Program” starts from the educational philosophy, emphasizing that under the principle of not extending the study period and not significantly increasing the number of course credits, it assists students in taking courses in their own department, and also selecting cross-domain module courses (BxA) offered by the second expertise department or college. Those who complete the program will have their cross-domain expertise added to their degree certificate upon graduation to highlight their diverse learning achievements. The design of this program emphasizes flexible credit allocation and core curriculum modularization, and combines living and learning communities and a flexible learning mentor system as support mechanisms to provide students with space for autonomous planning and diverse development. While enhancing the depth and breadth of learning, it also strengthens their interdisciplinary integration capabilities, further cultivating outstanding talents with international competitiveness and mobility, and responding to globalization trends and national future development needs.
industry-academia cooperation or study-to-employment pathway program
National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University has long been committed to promoting industry-academia cooperation, actively connecting top industry resources with cutting-edge academic research to create a learning environment that combines theory and practice. Students can participate in practical projects in cooperation with well-known companies during their studies, connect with the workplace early, accumulate key experience, and be ready to work upon graduation. Our university has established deep cooperative relationships with many international companies, covering key areas such as semiconductors, biomedicine, AI, and smart manufacturing. For example:
TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company): Semiconductor process and packaging technology cooperation projects, internships, and talent development programs
MediaTek: Jointly offering AI and chip design courses to cultivate next-generation chip talents
Viatris: Signed a memorandum of understanding for industry-academia cooperation to launch a pharmaceutical talent development program, allowing students to participate in practical training and research and development projects at international pharmaceutical companies.
International pharmaceutical companies (such as Roche, Merck): Providing research resources and global perspectives through bilateral programs

Micro-program
In order to enable students to respond to the various opportunities and challenges they will face when entering society in the future, CGU needs to cultivate not only the ability of professional subjects, but also multi-faceted and diversified learning. The micro-program takes “interdisciplinary” as the course design goal, integrates knowledge from different fields, and gradually learns through “foundation, core, and practice”. In addition to equipping students with multi-faceted professional abilities, it can also enhance their interdisciplinary thinking and communication, become all-round talents, and increase future employment advantages. Ten micro-programs have been opened for students to choose from.
Third semester system to shorten graduation time
CGU has established a summer third-semester system that enables students to effectively plan their future pathways and obtain a secondary specialization. Interdisciplinary credit programs are offered every summer, adopting a credit-based system instead of a fixed length of study. Students who complete the minimum graduation credits required by their department and meet the University’s graduation requirements may apply for graduation, with the possibility of completing their studies in as little as three years.
Outstanding graduating students and alumni are recommended to enter Formosa Plastics Group
CGU has established the “Operating Guidelines for Recommending Outstanding Graduating Students and Alumni to Enter Formosa Plastics Group” with Formosa Plastics Group since 2016. The qualifications for recommendation are: (1) Graduating students and alumni within one year of graduation who are willing to enter Formosa Plastics Group. (2) The graduation grades of the undergraduate department are the top 25% of the class, and the graduate school is the top 50% of the class. Fo Guang University is the first traditional academy-style university with modern significance in the country. Founded by Venerable Master Hsing Yun of Fo Guang Shan, it is also the first university in the Lanyang area. The campus is located on the mountain in Linmei Village, Jiaoxi Township, Yilan County, at an altitude of approximately 430 meters, offering a panoramic view of the vast Lanyang Plain and Turtle Island in the outer sea. The spiritual energy of the mountains and rivers on campus, the simple classroom equipment, the small class teaching system, and the best teacher-student ratio in the country create the best learning environment for you. The five universities founded internationally by Fo Guang Shan, including Fo Guang University in Yilan, Nanhua University in Chiayi, University of the West in the United States, Nan Tien Institute in Australia, and Guang Ming College in the Philippines, have formed the “Fo Guang Shan System University”, sharing resources and facilitating frequent academic exchanges between teachers and students. Fo Guang University places special emphasis on students broadening their international horizons and has signed academic exchange agreements with nearly 200 internationally renowned universities, encouraging undergraduates to have at least one short-term or semester-long overseas exchange, study exchange, or even study abroad opportunity during their time at the university. The related international exchange expenses are partially subsidized by Fo Guang Shan. Currently, there are overseas internship programs in Australia, Japan, Thailand, the Philippines, etc. There are summer camps in mainland China and the United States during the summer vacation. Each semester, there are also exchange study opportunities to sister schools in mainland China, South Korea, and the United States. Although Fo Guang University is a private university, the tuition and miscellaneous fees are charged according to the standards of public universities. Overseas Chinese students and students from Hong Kong and Macao who are admitted through the “Overseas Joint Enrollment Committee” or through the university’s “Separate Enrollment for Overseas Chinese Students and Students from Hong Kong and Macao” may be charged according to the tuition standards for domestic students. The “Million People Fundraising Memorial Fund” provides the “Buddhist Elite Scholarship”. Those who are willing to cooperate with the Buddhist Studies Department’s practice education, such as eating and living together, can apply to the Buddhist Studies Department after completing the payment and registration. They can apply for a scholarship of NTD 50,000 per semester, limited to four years for bachelor’s programs and two years for master’s and doctoral programs. Fo Guang University divides clubs into autonomous clubs (such as department student associations, student unions, etc.), recreational clubs (such as hip-hop dance clubs, recreation service clubs, etc.), academic and artistic clubs (such as Taiko drum clubs, calligraphy clubs, etc.), service clubs (such as volunteer services, goodwill ambassadors, etc.), sports clubs (such as table tennis clubs, etc.), social clubs (such as board game clubs, overseas Chinese student associations, etc.), and task-based clubs (such as choir clubs), totaling 74 clubs for students to develop their talents. At the end of each academic year, the Golden Bee Award for clubs is held, a club evaluation and award ceremony, and achievement presentations are held, and school principals, officials, and distinguished guests from friendly schools are invited to participate! Fo Guang University has 5 student dormitories on campus and 1 student dormitory in the city. Most of the new overseas students are assigned to the dormitory in Yilan City, which is convenient for dining and transportation. The city dormitory is new, and the public space is equipped with a lounge for watching TV, a reading room, reading newspapers and magazines, and meeting guests. Each floor has tea, laundry rooms, drying rooms, coin-operated dryers, and washing machines. The dormitory rooms are equipped with beds, desks, wardrobes, air conditioners, bathrooms, and network cable jacks. Each dormitory building has an electronic access control system, and 24-hour cameras are installed around the dormitory and at the entrances and exits. In order to strengthen the depth and breadth of students’ learning, to meet social needs and international development trends, and to integrate teaching resources, and to construct professional courses that meet students’ needs; Fo Guang University’s “Curriculum Program System” divides courses into different programs, including college foundation programs, department core programs, professional elective programs, and interdisciplinary programs. There are different combinations according to individual needs. The biggest difference from the old department credit system is that this curriculum program system can be more flexibly adjusted, freely selected, and self-taught across fields! In order to improve students’ employment knowledge, skills, and attitudes, the school comprehensively promotes cooperative institutions that connect with enterprises to add value to students’ employment competitiveness. Each department has corresponding cooperative enterprises according to its professional field, including Yugen Co., Ltd., NetDragon Websoft Inc., Lanyang 21st Century Real Estate, financial insurance industry, etc., allowing students to experience diverse workplace cultures through summer or semester internships, and have more opportunities to experience overseas employment.
