National Chung Hsing University (NCHU), founded in 1919, is a research-oriented comprehensive national university. Its academic fields are complete, with the Colleges of Liberal Arts, Management, Law and Politics, Science, Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Life Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, Medicine, Academy of Circular Economy, and the International College of Innovation and Industry Liaison. The 11 colleges are concentrated on the main campus in the center of Taichung City (Taiwan’s second largest city, an important transportation hub between north and south). The Academy of Circular Economy is located on the Nantou campus (Zhongxing New Village, Nantou City). Both campuses are easily accessible, have a comfortable climate, and offer good living conditions.

NCHU excels in research areas such as agricultural science, agricultural economics, veterinary medicine, life sciences, translational medicine, materials science, biomedical engineering, biotechnology, and green technology. In 2022, in response to the global trend of sustainable development, it established the first Academy of Circular Economy in Asia, focusing on three key areas: new agriculture, smart technology, and green semiconductors, further expanding its rich research fields.

Teaching quality and academic prestige

It demonstrates excellent performance in 10 fields: Agricultural Science, Plant and Animal Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Materials Science, Biology and Biochemistry, Clinical Medicine, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Environment and Ecology, and General Social Sciences, ranking in the top 1% globally in Essential Science Indicators (ESI).

We have established departments (programs) taught entirely in English, promoted English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI), accelerated the bilingualization of the university, improved students’ English listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, and assisted students in obtaining internationally and corporately recognized English proficiency certifications to facilitate future career planning and development.

Together with National Cheng Kung University, National Sun Yat-sen University, and National Chung Cheng University, we form the “Taiwan Comprehensive University System” alliance. We also form the “National University System of Taiwan” alliance with National Chi Nan University and 14 other national universities. Through academic exchanges, inter-university course selection, mutual recognition of credits, and sharing of library resources, we increase students’ opportunities for interdisciplinary learning, integrate the resources of member schools to jointly establish research centers, implement social responsibility, develop internationalization, create interdisciplinary synergies, and enhance the competitiveness of the university.

International Exchange and Cooperation

We promote an internationalized campus, signing sister school cooperation agreements with over 350 major universities abroad, exchanging students, and signing transnational dual degree programs with internationally renowned universities in the United States, France, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and other countries to enhance students’ international perspective and competitiveness.

International Student Support Mechanism

The Student Safety Division assists overseas Chinese and Hong Kong and Macao students with admission procedures, accommodation arrangements, health insurance, and organizes seminars to help students adapt to campus life as soon as possible. There are also scholarships and grants available exclusively for overseas Chinese and Hong Kong and Macao students.

Students form the “Overseas Chinese Students Association,” which includes the Malaysian Student Association, the Hong Kong and Macao Student Association, the Indonesian Student Association, the Myanmar Student Association, and the Global Student Association. Through various academic, cultural, sports, and recreational activities, they build consensus among students from different regions and experience a sense of home.

Macau Rising Star: The harder you work, the luckier you get

Graduated from the Department of Physical Education of this university in 2008, and entered the education field of Macau Sacred Rose English Middle School in the same year. At the beginning of his teaching career, sports was not a key teaching subject in Macau at that time, and Cantonese teaching had been the main focus for a long time. Later, he was appreciated by the principal at the time and innovatively used English teaching, bringing a new atmosphere to teaching. The following year, he successfully became the deputy director of the physical education department and the form teacher of the first grade, and served as a middle school physical education teacher for 7 years.

Department of Sport Information and Communication, 2nd Grade

Current position: Macau Broadcasting and Television Co., Ltd. Television Directing Team

Hello, future juniors and sisters~

I am an overseas Chinese student from Macau who graduated from the second grade of the Department of Sport Communication of this university. At that time, our department had just started, and I can be said to be one of the first overseas Chinese students.

At the beginning, I was really confused and couldn’t find the direction. Later, under the guidance of teachers, teaching assistants, and seniors, I actively participated in many sports event broadcasts cooperated by the department and the sports industry in Taiwan during my four years of university. It is because our department attaches great importance to “practical operation” that I accumulated quite good broadcast experience during my university, so I quickly found the direction of my future career.

After I graduated, I also successfully passed the exam to enter TDM with these experiences, and my position is also the “director” that I aspired to be since university. I hope that everyone who is interested in sports communication can also find their dreams and goals in the Department of Sport Communication of Taiwan Sport University!

Founded in 1991, YunTech’s motto is “Sincerity, Respect, Perseverance, and Innovation.” Since its establishment, it has been guided by the principle of practical application, gradually utilizing the advantages of industry-academia collaboration and innovative teaching to build a unique characteristic of “industry-academia integration and innovative design.” Since 2018, with the support of the Ministry of Education’s “Higher Education Sprout Project,” it has further constructed a dual-track learning system, providing students with a learning environment suitable for their development and practical application, and developing a problem-based learning (PBL) system that connects with industry, aiming to achieve the goal of cultivating talents with suitable development and high-quality employment.

Building on past achievements, since 2020, YunTech has continued to take “an internationally renowned university characterized by innovative teaching and industry connection” as its development vision, with the goals of “connecting the development of teachers and students with the needs of economic, environmental, and social sustainable development,” “making outstanding contributions to local and global well-being,” “shaping an innovative, intelligent, friendly, and sustainable campus,” and “ranking among the top 100 in Asia and the top 1000 in the world,” hoping to achieve world-class levels in the four dimensions of student cultivation, teacher development, university contribution, and international influence.

YunTech currently has 5 colleges: Engineering, Management, Design, Humanities and Sciences, and Future. There are 396 full-time teachers, of which more than 97% are full-time teachers with the title of assistant professor or above, and 92% have doctoral degrees. More than 50% of the teachers have doctoral degrees from famous universities in Europe, America, and Japan, and the number of teachers with practical experience is also more than 91.7%. In order to expand students’ international perspective and teachers’ international cooperation, various international academic exchange activities are actively carried out: for example, signing student exchange agreements, promoting teacher-student overseas teaching, encouraging students to study or intern abroad, and establishing cooperation platforms to recommend teachers to go abroad for practical study or international academic cooperation, and promoting YunTech to export influence to the world.

Various teaching qualities have been internationally certified and synchronized with international standards. In 2024, all departments of the College of Engineering once again obtained IEET international “Engineering and Technology Education Accreditation,” and the College of Management was re-accredited by the international AACSB business management education for the second time in 2024, and the teaching quality and student ability are in line with international standards.

YunTech participates in TAItech, which is composed of 6 universities of technology in Taiwan, and signed a student exchange and short-term course alliance agreement with HAWtech, the German University of Applied Sciences Alliance. Actively create an internationalized campus, encourage departments to offer professional courses in English, organize various international academic exchange activities, teacher-student overseas teaching, sign student exchange agreements with sister schools, encourage students to study or intern abroad, expand international perspectives, and achieve the goal of two-way talent exchange.
