Our university adheres to the vision and core values of a “Great University,” and is committed to pursuing truth, creating new knowledge, and cultivating outstanding talents. To encourage students to engage in interdisciplinary learning, expand their second expertise, and deepen their diverse knowledge structure, we have referenced the BxA cross-college degree structure promoted by Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in the United States, as well as the innovative models of modularized curriculum and online/hybrid learning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), as benchmarks to promote the development of “Cross-Domain Programs.”

The “Cross-Domain Program” starts from the educational philosophy, emphasizing that under the principle of not extending the study period and not significantly increasing the number of course credits, it assists students in taking courses in their own department, and also selecting cross-domain module courses (BxA) offered by the second expertise department or college. Those who complete the program will have their cross-domain expertise added to their degree certificate upon graduation to highlight their diverse learning achievements. The design of this program emphasizes flexible credit allocation and core curriculum modularization, and combines living and learning communities and a flexible learning mentor system as support mechanisms to provide students with space for autonomous planning and diverse development. While enhancing the depth and breadth of learning, it also strengthens their interdisciplinary integration capabilities, further cultivating outstanding talents with international competitiveness and mobility, and responding to globalization trends and national future development needs.

industry-academia cooperation or study-to-employment pathway program

National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University has long been committed to promoting industry-academia cooperation, actively connecting top industry resources with cutting-edge academic research to create a learning environment that combines theory and practice. Students can participate in practical projects in cooperation with well-known companies during their studies, connect with the workplace early, accumulate key experience, and be ready to work upon graduation. Our university has established deep cooperative relationships with many international companies, covering key areas such as semiconductors, biomedicine, AI, and smart manufacturing. For example:
TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company): Semiconductor process and packaging technology cooperation projects, internships, and talent development programs
MediaTek: Jointly offering AI and chip design courses to cultivate next-generation chip talents
Viatris: Signed a memorandum of understanding for industry-academia cooperation to launch a pharmaceutical talent development program, allowing students to participate in practical training and research and development projects at international pharmaceutical companies.
