Introduction
The most representative university in Taiwan
Known for its liberal academic style, it has the characteristics of “encouraging learning, patriotism, and love for others” to nurture Taiwanese people, and shoulders the important task of advanced academic research and teaching. Through outstanding talents and abundant resources, we actively deepen international connections and local social responsibility, so as to coexist and prosper with the ecological environment and social economy, and continue to build a sustainable campus.
Since its founding in 1928, National Taiwan University has entered its 96th year and has about 34,000 students, making it the university with the largest number of students in Taiwan. In recent years, the university has promoted the concept of “learner-centered open university” and provided flexible course methods such as “field expertise” and “bachelor’s degree” to encourage students to cross departmental boundaries and explore their future career development.
NTU has an international reputation for excellence in both research and teaching, ranking 68th in the 2025 QS World University Rankings and 172nd in the 2025 Times Higher Education World University Rankings by THE (THE).
NTU has signed alliances with more than 700 schools around the world, sending more than 1,100 students to sister schools in 67 countries to participate in exchange programs every year. In addition, it also provides more than 100 multinational dual degree programs and multinational internship opportunities.

Highlights
Domain Expertise Module
Domain Expertise modules are the focus of our recent curriculum reform, with each module consisting of four to five courses of approximately 12 to 15 credits. Unlike the list-based course selection model, the domain expertise module emphasizes a clear course connection axis and the relationship between courses.
This provides clearer course guidance, allowing students to explore and learn across domains in a directional manner, reserve more solid and diverse “academic skills”, and lay the foundation for career development or graduate school. The NTU Domain Expertise Module has three major goals.
First of all, the teaching units of the whole school can put forward field expertise, improve the leanness of the curriculum through curriculum restructuring and international comparison, and reflect the spirit of consolidating and deepening education.
Secondly, the field expertise offered by each teaching unit is open to all students in the school on the principle of promoting cross-domain learning, breaking down departmental barriers, and promoting the integration of teaching resources within the school.
In the future, the domain expertise module will become the cornerstone of the bachelor’s degree and school bachelor’s degree, allowing students to flexibly combine field expertise modules according to their own aspirations to achieve the school’s cross-domain innovation talent cultivation goals. International Pathfinder Program
In 2022, NTU launched Taiwan’s first mentorship and apprenticeship program specifically for overseas students, with the Office of International Affairs of NTU specially inviting government departments, foreign institutions in Taiwan, enterprises, startups, chambers of commerce, research institutions, and non-profit organizations to provide summer internships for overseas students.
This program includes two parts: skills training workshops and unit internships. Students participating in the program must first participate in the skills training workshop organized by the International Affairs Office. The training content includes resume writing, interview skills, and introduction to Taiwanese workplace culture. After successful matching with the internship unit, students will undergo 12 to 16 weeks of internship in each unit. The 2022 NTU International Pathfinder Program recruited a total of 71 companies and institutions to cultivate and retain talents.
