Introduction


National United University was founded in 1972, reorganized, and upgraded. With a solid foundation, it has diligently cultivated many outstanding senior professionals over 48 years.

The achievements in teaching and research, along with the outstanding performance of alumni, are reflected in this year’s world university rankings. According to the latest 2019-2020 world university rankings released by the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR), National United University ranks in the top 9% of universities worldwide and the top 20% of universities in Taiwan, demonstrating the school’s overall excellence.

The university has six colleges: Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Management, Hakka Studies, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Design. These include 19 departments (with 15 master’s programs), 1 Indigenous program, 1 independent graduate institute, and 1 doctoral degree program. The university has two campuses, totaling approximately 77 hectares. It is located north of the Hsinchu Science and Technology Park and south of the Taichung metropolitan area. It is approximately 10 to 15 minutes by car from the Miaoli Interchange of National Highways 1 and 3 and the Miaoli Railway Station, and approximately 15 to 20 minutes by car from the Miaoli High-Speed Rail Station. International Exchange and Cooperation

The university has established partnerships with more than 169 sister schools in Europe, America, and Asia. Each year, outstanding students are selected to participate in semester exchanges and overseas internships in the United States, Japan, South Korea, France, Malaysia, and other regions, increasing students’ international perspective and mobility. Senior officials arrange visits to key development partners to deepen existing cooperative relationships, such as the biennial Taiwan-Japan academic conference held in rotation with Japanese Kosen sister schools since 2017.

Teaching quality and academic prestige

1. Received the Ministry of Education’s Teaching Excellence Project for seven consecutive years. From 2013 to 2014, received subsidies from the Ministry of Education’s Third Phase Regional Teaching Resource Integration and Sharing Project. From 2015 to 2017, continued to receive subsidies from the Ministry of Education’s Second Phase Teaching Enhancement Project and the Featured University Pilot Project. From 2018 to 2022, received subsidies from the Ministry of Education’s Higher Education Sprout Project.

2. With the concerted efforts of all faculty and students, the university was ranked 29th nationally in the 2016-2017 University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP).

3. Ranked among the top 10 national universities in the higher education system in the Industry-Academia Cooperation Performance Evaluation by the Higher Education Evaluation Accreditation Council of Taiwan.

4. Listed as a new national brand-name university in Business Weekly, issue 1328.

5. National United University ranked 31st in Taiwan in the 2021-2022 CWUR World University Rankings.

6. In the 2022 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Impact Rankings, National United University ranked 33rd in Taiwan and 601-800 worldwide.

The president of the 4th Overseas Student Association, after graduating and returning to Hong Kong, passed the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) assessment. The bachelor’s degree obtained in Taiwan is equivalent to a bachelor’s degree with honors in Hong Kong. Currently employed in a public sector unit in Hong Kong.

Highlights


Taiwan National University System

The university, together with National Chung Hsing University, National Taichung University of Education, and National Kaohsiung University, jointly established the “Taiwan National University System,” composed of 11 national universities. They jointly conduct various inter-school cooperation and exchanges, providing opportunities for college students to participate in overseas volunteer service work in our country’s allied or friendly countries and promoting international exchange affairs. International exchange activities

Each year, students are subsidized to participate in short-term overseas study, exchange programs, and invited or nominated to participate in overseas academic exchange activities, or to attend overseas international conferences and present papers orally; summer internships and student exchanges are signed with sister schools in the United States, France, Japan, and South Korea.

World’s Top 2% Scientists 2021

Scholars at Stanford University in the United States released the latest “2024 World’s Top 2% Scientists 2024” list. National United University has 14 people on the “Lifetime Science Impact Ranking (1960 – 2023)” and 5 people on the “Annual Science Impact Ranking.” The outstanding results rank National United University 23rd among 159 universities and colleges in Taiwan.

Eligibility

Overseas Chinese Student Scholarship

NTD 5,000-8,000/semester

(1) Bachelor’s students must take at least 16 credits per semester (graduating students must take at least 9 credits); Master’s and doctoral students must take at least 8 credits per semester (graduating graduate students must take at least 4 credits).

(2) Academic performance in the top 20% of the class in the previous semester.

(3) Not receiving other public funding from the government of the Republic of China.

Regulations for Foreign Student Scholarships

NTD 27,000-58,500/semester

(1) Tuition and miscellaneous fee waivers: Foreign students in undergraduate and graduate programs in the first academic year, graduate students may continue to receive it once (one academic year).

(2) Scholarship for undergraduate students: NTD 6,000 per month, paid for 4.5 months per semester. The overall average academic performance in the previous semester must be above 65 points, the conduct grade must be above 80 points, and at least 9 credits must be taken.


Graduate School:

NTD 8,000 per month, paid for 4.5 months per semester. The overall average academic performance in the previous semester must be above 80 points, the conduct grade must be above 80 points, and at least 4 credits must be taken.

An additional NTD 2,000 per month for those in the top 10% of the class;

An additional NTD 5,000 for the first place in the class (not cumulative with the NTD 2,000 for the top 10% of the class)
