Introduction
Kinmen (also named Jinmen or Quemoy) is located in between China and Taiwan and is just about two kilometers off the coast of Xiamen, China. Kinmen has been playing the significant role of a bridge for all kinds of exchanges across the Taiwan Straits.
Kinmen is one of the earliest civilized and internationalized cities in Taiwan. Its history dates back for more than 100 years and has always been the hometown of tens of thousands of overseas Chinese. It is alleged that there are more than 400,000 Kinmen descendants live in South Asian countries. Thanks to the hard-working of their ancestors, some of those overseas Chinese leaders are successful and wealthy in their place of residence.
These leaders are so enthusiastic that they donate generously and support fully the constructions of all levels of educational institutions in their hometown, especially the only public university—the National Quemoy University. Till now, you can still witness their generosities almost everywhere in Kinmen. These outstanding overseas Chinese leaders are the strongest backup for the development of NQU.
With all these donations and supports from overseas, NQU sets up decent scholarships for Overseas Chinese and International students. For example, all Overseas Chinese students enrolled in NQU are entitled to a FULL Scholarship which includes a FULL Refund of the paid tuition in their first year. Kinmen Descendant Students are all qualified for a FULL Subsidy of their paid tuition without any conditions during their four-year bachelor degree program. Besides the scholarship, all students at NQU can enjoy the benefits from Kinmen County Government. For example, they give out Vouchers (or Coupons) of NT$ 2,000 to all graduate and undergraduate students and cash subsidies of NT$ 5,000 to undergraduate students every semester. To sum up, all these scholarships, benefits, or subsidies are more than adequate to students in need.
In terms of transportation, it is very convenient to live and study in Kinmen because the flight to all major cities in Taiwan takes only 50 minutes and the ferry to two major cities (Xiamen and Quanzhou) takes only 30 minutes.

Nowadays, students around the world are facing multi-country challenges and threats of globalization. With its better academic resources and strongest supports from overseas, National Quemoy University is devoted to playing the role of the core center and vital portal for academic, cultural, and educational exchanges.
Come and join the NQU and grasp the unique opportunity to thrive!

From the Kinmen Bridge to various major constructions, it relies on the talents of this department to provide professional advice.
Technology: The two departments of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science & Information Engineering cultivate talents needed by the high-tech industry, with AI, AR, VR, big data and robots as the teaching focus required to meet the future market.
People’s Livelihood: The Department of Food Science is the promoter of Kinmen Liquor and the upgrading of Kinmen’s people’s livelihood industry. It has strong food processing, testing and extraction technologies. Related courses such as wine tasting and brewing are the most distinctive specialized fields.
The research fields of the College of Science and Engineering cover a wide range. Among them, the most local characteristics include island biological resource utilization, ecological and environmental sustainable engineering, green energy technology and application, and spatial information system application research, which play a long-term and far-reaching role in local engineering construction and industrial development.
2. College of Humanities and Social Sciences
Including: Department of Applied English, Department of Chinese Studies, Department of Urban Planning and Landscape, Department of Ocean and Border Management, Department of International and Mainland China Affairs, Department of Architecture, Graduate Program of Culture and History of Hokkien, Master’s Program in Language, Humanities and Innovative Applications, Master Program with Direct Admission to Ph. D. Program in Cross disciplinary Sustainable Development of Island Industry
As an important overseas Chinese town in the hearts of many overseas Chinese, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences is committed to preserving Southern Fujian culture, participating in local urban planning, guarding borders and cultivating international affairs talents. Develop related departments with the vision of “culture, city, and international” as the three main axes.
Culture: The Graduate Program of Culture and History of Hokkien has become an important center for Southern Fujian cultural research in Taiwan, and its uniqueness is irreplaceable. The Departments of Applied English and Chinese Studies enable students to have mobility and assist overseas Chinese children in preserving their Chinese language skills.
City: The background conditions of military sites, historical culture, and surrounding marine ecology make the teaching of the Department of Architecture and the Department of Urban Planning and Landscape more inclusive than other universities. At the same time, inject a balanced perspective of coexistence of old and new into urban architecture and landscape.
International: The particularity and importance of its geographical location make the two departments of International and Mainland China Affairs and Ocean and Border Management unique among domestic universities. In recent years, they have been accelerating the cultivation of the strongest cross-strait and border management talents for Taiwan.
3. College of Management
Including: Department of Business Administration, Department of Tourism Management, Department of Sports and Leisure, Department of Industrial Engineering and Management, Master Program with Direct Admission to Ph. D. Program in Strategy and Development of Cross-Border Industries
Peter Drucker, a master of Western management, once said that management issues are multi-faceted. Management is not just common sense, nor is it just a rule of thumb, but a set of organized knowledge.
The College of Management of Kinmen University systematically classifies teaching fields, starting from a solid foundation and practice of business management, and then echoing the characteristics of the outlying island industry to deepen the cultivation of tourism and sports management talents. After being upgraded to a university, it has become more closely aligned with the talent needs of industrial engineering management. The Department of Business Administration emphasizes both theory and practice, cultivating students’ ability to solve problems and innovate. The Department of Industrial Engineering and Management uses AI and smart manufacturing knowledge to lead students to meet the future of automated management. Tourism and recreation are important economic sources for Kinmen’s industry. Kinmen University also closely follows the industry’s heartbeat and cultivates management talents in the fields of tourism, sports and leisure for the country. The granite geology of Kinmen Taiwu Mountain and various rich natural and cultural landscapes are the real-life classrooms for the Department of Tourism to step out of textbooks. The wine-themed courses offered due to Kinmen’s wine production are also one of the characteristics of the Department of Tourism.
4. College of Health and Nursing
Including: Department of Nursing, Department of Long-Term Care, Department of Social Work
The College of Health and Nursing was established 10 years ago and is the youngest college in the school. It is particularly closely integrated with domestic long-term care policies and health care as a trend, undertaking the task of cultivating health care and social work talents for outlying islands and assisting Kinmen in expanding the health care industry. In order to educate students to have health care, global vision and professional literacy, the College of Health and Nursing emphasizes service professionalism and skills. Every graduate has the ability to directly enter the workplace after four years of training. The entire college emphasizes 4 core teaching concepts:
Integration of learning and application: The Department of Nursing, Department of Long-Term Care, and Department of Social Work all directly face patients, the elderly, or individual cases, and need to develop the professional ability to directly serve people in education.
Cross-border learning: Promote students to apply for international and mainland exchange student opportunities. Students have the opportunity to go to Xiamen University, Sichuan University, Jilin University and other key universities on the other side for exchange internships.
Deepening: Through professional equipment, construct a teaching environment, plan a large number of internship hours and counseling for license examinations, and strengthen care skills.
Incubating original energy: In addition to providing personal care and services, the four years of study at the College of Health and Nursing can also be invested in innovation and entrepreneurship in the medical and health field, such as combining long-term care technology or assistive devices and other product development.

3. Cross-Strait and International Talent Training and Exchange

Our school makes good use of its location advantages to design many cross-strait characteristic professional courses and arrange visits to or exchanges with cross-strait enterprises, so that students can grasp relevant information and trends on both sides of the strait as early as possible during their studies.
Our school actively negotiates with Taiwanese businessmen on both sides of the strait and in various countries to sign industry-university cooperation agreements, and promotes students to go to mainland China, Vietnam, Indonesia and other places for industrial internships in accordance with the spirit of the cooperation intention letters of both parties. At the same time, it also actively encourages students to participate in various international exchange seminars or participate in international volunteer activities.
In addition, our school actively promotes students to go to Taiwan, international or mainland prestigious universities for exchange studies. As long as you have excellent grades, you will have more opportunities to be selected to go to Taiwan, mainland China or study abroad.

Students can choose to intern at the company in the last year of their program and get in touch with the employment environment early. (See the website of each department for details on industrial internships and employment planning in other departments)
