Introduction

In recent years, to respond to social development and national needs, NKNU has continuously adjusted its operational pace, carrying out diversified adjustments on the one hand and keeping in mind forward-looking innovation on the other. In the face of the transformation of teacher training, in addition to maintaining the excellent traditional characteristics of teacher education, it has also actively adjusted the development direction of departments and institutes in response to changes in the educational ecology, to cultivate elites and leaders needed for social and national development.

The school will use its profound humanistic academic research background and excellent professional literacy in science to become a high-quality university with both academic research and excellent teaching, interdisciplinary integration and diversified innovation, and actively move towards excellence and a first-class university.

Counseling mechanism for Hong Kong and Macao students

1. Academic counseling:

— Open a ‘Mandarin and Accent Communication’ counseling class to solve language learning and adaptation problems.

— Arrange individual assistance and guidance from classmates for a few overseas Chinese students with academic difficulties.

2. Life counseling:

— Every year, new students are actively contacted by overseas Chinese student cadres, and overseas Chinese students on vacation in their places of residence contact them to provide relevant information and assist them in coming to Taiwan.

— The overseas Chinese student cadres arrange a reception team to provide services and guidance in all aspects from airport pick-up to arrival at the school, so that new overseas Chinese students can feel warm and adapt to the new environment as soon as possible.

— Conduct guidance seminars for new overseas Chinese students.

Extracurricular activities for overseas Chinese students

Encourage overseas Chinese students to participate in extracurricular activities, so that overseas Chinese students from different places of residence can form overseas Chinese student associations.

— Every year, festival dinners are held during the three festivals to invite teachers and overseas Chinese students to have dinner together to celebrate the festivals and relieve the homesickness of overseas Chinese students.

— Every year in early November, a welcome trip for overseas Chinese students is held to allow new students to appreciate the beauty of Taiwan and also narrow the distance between them and senior students.

— Every year in mid-March, a large-scale annual event for overseas Chinese students is held to allow overseas Chinese students to give play to their creativity and showcase foreign cultures, costumes and cuisine.

— Every year before the graduation season, a farewell trip to learn about the history and culture of Taiwan is organized for graduates, so that overseas Chinese students can have a wonderful graduation trip before returning to their places of residence.
