Introduction
National Pingtung University (NPTU) was formed on August 1, 2014, through the merger of National Pingtung University of Education and National Pingtung Institute of Commerce. It has four campuses: Minsheng Campus, Pingshi Campus, and Pingshang Campus, all located in Pingtung City with convenient transportation. There is also the Checheng Campus located in Checheng Township, Pingtung County.
Our school was formerly the Pingtung Normal School of Taiwan Governor-General’s Office, founded in April 1940, and the National Pingtung College of Commerce, founded in 1991. After the merger, there are 7 colleges, 30 departments, 1 institute, and 8 degree programs. In addition, there is an affiliated experimental elementary school, making it the only national university with the diverse characteristics of higher education, vocational education, and teacher training.
Transportation
National Pingtung University is located in the center of Pingtung City, just a 15-minute walk from the train station, close to Kaohsiung (30 minutes by train), 1.5 hours to Taichung, and 2.5 hours to Taipei. The surrounding area has complete living functions, convenient dining and transportation, and all kinds of recreational functions such as sports facilities, movie theaters, and shopping centers.
Teaching quality and academic prestige
National Pingtung University provides diverse learning channels for higher education, teacher training, and vocational education systems, allowing students to have the opportunity to take courses across fields and systems. Through resource integration, the teaching and research level and international competitiveness of teachers are improved, and students’ learning resources and diverse professional skills for employment are enriched, thereby enhancing the university’s competitiveness and sustainable development. In addition, our school combines local resources, serves local industries, and promotes practical industry-academia cooperation, with the goal of “taking from the local and using it for the local,” so that teachers, students, industries, society, and the country can benefit and create a prosperous Pingtung together.
