Introduction
School History
In 1899, Taichung Normal School (the predecessor of the university) was opened in Changhua Confucius Temple. In 1923, the school was rebuilt at its current location, officially starting the university’s century-long educational mission. In 1945, it entered the “Normal School Period”, establishing the concept of teacher training as a social model. In 1960, it entered the “Normal Junior College Period”, developing the ideal of liberal arts and professional higher education. In 1987, it entered the “Normal College Period”, developing into a teaching and research institution for modern education professionals. In 2005, it entered the “University of Education Period”, integrating the century-old tradition of teacher training, striving for transformation and development, and taking the school-running concept of “Inheriting a Century of Normal Education and Establishing a Future University of Education” to become an “innovative and sustainable teacher training university with smart learning as its core.”
