Introduction
Urban Oasis, Sustainable Campus
–Founded in 1955, it is the only comprehensive private university in Taiwan with programs from kindergarten to doctoral level.
–A forest campus with hundreds of acres of greenery and thousands of ecological landscapes. The two campuses cover a total of 133 hectares, combining the iconic Luce Chapel and teaching buildings with traditional and modern styles, creating Taiwan’s premier living and learning space per student.
–Home to the largest practice farm in central Taiwan, with Tunghai milk, produced and sold on-site, being a renowned dairy product across Taiwan.
–The campus is located in the core development area of Taichung City, with free bus transportation within the city for 10 kilometers.
Guidance Mechanism for International Students
–The International Affairs Office at Tunghai University has a “Student Exchange Division” dedicated to assisting international and overseas Chinese students, including academic counseling, assistance with residence permits and airport pick-up, scholarship applications, and work-study opportunities, so that students can study without any worries.
–There are international student associations, Hong Kong and Macau student associations, Malaysian student associations, Indonesian student associations, and other international student self-governing organizations to further deepen daily exchanges between students and regularly organize major international exchange activities to add to the splendor of university life.
International Integration, Interdisciplinary Paradigm
–In the “2024 World University Impact Rankings” by Times Higher Education (UK), only 7 universities in Taiwan entered the top 200 in the world. Among them, Tunghai University ranks among the top 100 in the world and has been ranked first among non-medical universities in Taiwan for four consecutive years, and fourth in Taiwan overall. Tunghai University has been the number one non-medical university in Taiwan for five consecutive years.
–Global sister schools are distributed across five continents, totaling more than 350 schools in 35 countries. In the next five years, the university will promote the International Hundred Cities and Hundred Schools Exchange Program and establish a World Footprint Micro-Credit Program to encourage every student to have at least one international learning experience during their time at the university to broaden their global perspective and connect with the world.
–In response to the changing times, the university has reformed its common and general education courses and continues to promote and construct distinctive “interdisciplinary credit programs” that combine industrial practices, establish career guidance mechanisms and digital learning portfolios to assist students in planning their career blueprints.
–The departments and programs at Tunghai University are developing AI application courses, listing “Programming Thinking and Generative AI” courses as required courses for the entire university. Students can combine their major with diverse AI applications, and graduates will have the ability to write programs, strengthening their competitiveness in the workplace.

2011 2nd Tunghai University Alumni Association Alumnus Model
Graduated from the Department of Sociology of Tunghai University in 1986. Since returning to Hong Kong after graduation, in addition to founding Tunghai Hong Kong Company, he has been enthusiastically participating in the voluntary work of the Tunghai Hong Kong Alumni Association. He has served as the person in charge of the association for many years and is currently an advisor to the association. He has made many contributions to uniting Hong Kong alumni, assisting overseas Chinese students from the alma mater in Hong Kong, and promoting association affairs for many years.
In July 2011, Senior Wei was elected as the President of the “Federation of Hong Kong Alumni Associations of Taiwan Universities” and served as the Second Vice President of the “World Federation of Taiwan Alumni Associations”. Senior Wei’s work has been praised by alumni from various universities in Taiwan and has also been affirmed by the Taiwan Representative Office in Hong Kong.
姚迪剛
Founder of Tungda Machinery Co., Ltd.
Malaysia
Graduated from the Department of Industrial Engineering of Tunghai University in 1984. He returned to Malaysia to start his own business and established Tungda Machinery Co., Ltd. He is currently the Managing Director of Tungda Machinery Co., Ltd. The company mainly produces power machinery for palm oil, wastewater treatment, gloves, pulp and paper industries. Yao Digang has also served as the President of the Tunghai Alumni Association of Malaysia, the President of the United Alumni Association of Taiwan in Malaysia, and the President of the World Federation of Taiwan Alumni Associations. He has also won the 10th Outstanding Alumnus of Tunghai University, the Second Class Hua Guang Professional Medal of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Commission of the Republic of China, and the Second and Third Class Education Professional Medals of the Ministry of Education.
In addition to his successful career, Yao Digang is also enthusiastic about Chinese education. During his tenure as the President of the United Alumni Association of Taiwan, he held several education exhibitions of Taiwan universities to promote academic exchanges between Malaysia and Taiwan. He also visited the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia, the Public Service Bureau, the MCA, and the Student Association in Taiwan for many times, and actively promoted the formal recognition of Taiwan university diplomas by the Malaysian Academic Qualifications Evaluation Agency through various channels, and strived for the status of Chinese education in Malaysia from the government.

AI Interdisciplinary at Tunghai
AI Artificial Intelligence Center
Educational Transformation:
Promote the integration of departmental professional fields and AI technology, cultivate students’ ability to solve practical problems and practice, and develop field-specific AI applications.
Industrial Upgrading:
Establish and develop technologies based on world-class AI platforms, connect industrial experience and experimental fields, research and develop solutions for industrial upgrading, and help enterprises innovate and transform. Initially focus on smart manufacturing, smart healthcare, and smart buildings.
Taichung Veterans General Hospital, Tunghai University, and Taiwan Artificial Intelligence School are joining hands across fields to enter the medical AI field, including four major aspects: “Talent Cultivation”, “Research and Development”, “Clinical Application”, and “Health Care”.
Cloud Innovation College
Focuses on the cultivation of talents in “cloud technology” and “new economy”. The main participating departments include six departments: Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, Information Management, and Mathematics. The courses include two aspects: “Cloud Technology” and “New Economy”. Students’ graduation projects need to be solved by interdisciplinary teams to solve practical problems in the industry.
“Cloud Technology” combines AWS technology and platform to train artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, big data, and cloud service talents needed by the future industry. The “New Economy” part focuses on the industrial impact brought by technology and the possible innovative business models. Uber, Airbnb, Netflix, etc. are all successful examples of the new economy that subvert traditional business models on the AWS platform.

Tunghai Red Earth College – Practice and Innovation of Urban Farms
The Red Earth College has built a practical simulation farm on campus, and with “agricultural soul” as the cornerstone, supplemented by the school’s characteristics of humanities, social sciences and arts, it has constructed a practical field with diverse connotations of “food and agriculture”. It cultivates students with both agricultural education (Tunghai Agricultural School agricultural knowledge), food education (Green Leader food and agriculture teaching plan development) and culture.
The mission of the Red Earth College is to guide students to integrate into the core knowledge of humanities and social sciences through the process of “learning by doing”, open students’ respect for life, care for ecology, expand local horizons, and at the same time improve learning integration, and then become practical talents with sustainable environmental literacy.
