Introduction

International Certification

TTU has continuously received the Teaching Excellence Project and Higher Education Sprout Project from the Ministry of Education. All departments have passed the Ministry of Education’s department evaluation or IEET international engineering education certification. It has also won the “Outstanding Industry-Academia Cooperation Unit” award from the Chinese Institute of Engineers multiple times and has been recognized by the German Red Dot Design Award as one of the top ten design schools in the Asia-Pacific region.

International Exchange and Cooperation

TTU has sister schools in the United States, Japan, South Korea, Germany, and mainland China. In addition to exchange students, there are also dual degree programs and short-term cultural camps during winter and summer vacations to receive the latest international educational knowledge and cultivate the international perspective necessary for global citizens.

Dormitory Information and Transportation

Understanding that off-campus housing is too expensive for new international students, students can have priority to live in the university dormitory. TTU campus is located in the center of Taipei City, close to transportation stations, MRT, airport, and highways. The Fine Arts Museum, Riverside Park, and Yangmingshan National Park are nearby, and Shilin Night Market and Qingguang Market provide complete living functions.

Highlights

Industry-Academia Cooperation

TTU, founded more than 60 years ago, is known for cultivating scientists, engineers, designers, and business operators needed for national development. It is committed to enriching students’ international perspectives, cultivating international talents with unique competitive advantages, and practicing the educational goals of “Industry-Academia Cooperation, Research and Development, Integrity, Diligence, Frugality, and Serving the Country through Industry.”

It has won the “Outstanding Industry-Academia Cooperation Award” from the Chinese Institute of Engineers multiple times. The annual output of school-enterprise cooperation projects is nearly 100. In recent years, it has applied for more than 200 domestic and foreign patents, and many forward-looking advanced technologies have obtained patents from various countries. Tatung Company Group and alumni enterprises provide cross-industry practical teaching platforms (home appliances and electronics, power and energy, traditional industries, thin-film semiconductors, etc.) to provide on-the-job training.

Interdisciplinary Global Mobility

1. Through required English and Japanese courses, general education courses that broaden international perspectives, and well-structured practical programs and activities such as international volunteer services, international work camps, overseas internships, short-term study programs at partner universities, and dual-degree programs, the university cultivates global mobility as a core competency for its graduates. In recent years, the university has continued to establish and expand new academic exchanges with institutions in countries including Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Russia.

2. TTU encourages students to participate in international university social responsibility projects, overseas internships, English-taught international colleges, and expanded international exchange programs. These opportunities allow students to gain a deeper understanding of foreign languages and cultures, broaden their international perspectives, and further strengthen their global mobility.

3. In addition to its strengths in engineering, TTU has also demonstrated outstanding development in design and management. Accordingly, it has planned international summer work camps as a third-semester program in the form of capstone courses, integrating interdisciplinary practical themes that combine engineering, design, and management. TTU invites international faculty members to co-teach professional courses with its faculty through dual-instructor English-medium instruction, creating a highly competitive international interdisciplinary learning ecosystem. Faculty and students from institutions such as the University of Oregon in the United States, Sheffield Hallam University in the United Kingdom, Kyoto Institute of Technology in Japan, and Communication University of China have participated in these programs. In particular, exchanges with Sheffield Hallam University are promoted through joint exhibition initiatives, fostering mutual learning and observation among faculty and students.
