Introduction


Features

Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages was founded in 1966 and is the only university of languages in Taiwan. The university has a four-year undergraduate program, a two-year undergraduate program (including the “Hong Kong Two-Year Technology Program”), and a five-year junior college program, including the Department of English Language, Department of French Language, Department of German Language, Department of Spanish Language, Department of Japanese Language, Department of Applied Chinese Language, Department of Foreign Language Instruction, Department of Translation and Interpretation, Department of International Affairs, Department of International Business Administration, Department of Digital Content Application and Management, Department of Communication Arts, and Department of Southeast Asian Studies, totaling 13 departments.

In addition, the graduate school has master’s programs in International Business Administration, Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, Translation and Interpretation, English Language, European Studies, International Affairs, and Southeast Asian Studies. Currently, the university has signed academic exchange agreements with more than 280 universities and colleges in 40 countries across five continents, actively promoting international exchanges between faculty and students, and encouraging students to study abroad for short periods or participate in exchange programs at sister schools.

Global Sister Schools

There are more than 280 sister schools worldwide in as many as 40 countries, providing students with more diverse exchange opportunities.

Multilingual Volunteer Group

Each year, the International Buddy Program is implemented, with each new student assigned at least 1 international buddy to provide peer assistance and cross-cultural exchange.

Hong Kong and Macao Joint Society

Unites Hong Kong and Macao students on campus, promotes Hong Kong and Macao culture, and strengthens cohesion.

Greater Malaysia United Society

Organizes various activities to connect Malaysian students on campus and help new students integrate into Taiwanese culture and campus life as soon as possible.

Transportation

The campus is close to the High Speed Rail Zuoying Station, Kaohsiung MRT Arena Station, and Kaohsiung City Bus Station, providing students with the most convenient external transportation.

Living Functions

Located in the center of Kaohsiung City, near Hanshin Arena Shopping District, Ruifeng Night Market, and Dingzhong Business District, it has good living functions.

Regularly organizes student social events to promote cross-cultural exchange between international and local students.

Highlights


International Campus

The university actively establishes academic and cultural exchange relationships with universities and colleges around the world, and the activities are becoming more diverse, including: mutual visits between faculty and students, holding international academic seminars, visiting guest professors, exchange students, short-term student research activities, overseas internships, and various international volunteer activities.

Currently, the university’s exchange map extends to 35 countries on five continents, with more than 270 universities, colleges, and academic institutions. Through the signing of academic exchange agreements, we actively promote international exchanges between faculty and students, encourage students to study abroad for short periods or participate in exchange programs at sister schools, and enhance the internationalization of the campus.

Digital Campus

The university has set up a variety of professional venues and resource rooms to provide a high-quality environment for “teaching” and “learning”; all general classrooms have well-equipped “multimedia information platforms”, and wireless networks are widely installed on campus (covering 100% of the campus) to facilitate teachers and students to access the Internet or log in to the cloud academy for learning at any time.

In addition, there is an English/Foreign Language Proficiency Diagnosis and Counseling Center, which uses the “Foreign Language Proficiency Diagnosis System” to arrange professional teachers and counseling assistants from various language departments (English, French, German, Spanish, and Japanese) to fully customize personalized language learning improvement plans for students (with an average of 8,598 visits per year); in line with the school’s policy of digitizing curriculum materials, a Teacher Development Center is also set up to provide teachers with hardware and software equipment for self-made digital teaching materials, and regularly holds a series of teacher professional development workshops to improve teachers’ professional literacy.

Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages –High-Tech Industry Talent Training Program (Micro-credits) Wenzao joins hands with international manufacturers and experts to create courses that include industry analysis, semiconductor design and manufacturing processes, and practical training to give students a better understanding of the high-tech and semiconductor industries.
